Near Death Experiences

Clinical death is a state in which the patient stops breathing, the blood supply to the brain is cut off and all brain function ceases completely. It is impossible to be conscious and make memories in this state.

Advances in the medical field, such as effective resuscitation techniques, have enabled doctors to bring thousands of clinically dead people back to life. Clinical death is a state in which the patient stops breathing, the blood supply to the brain is cut off and all brain function ceases completely. Such a state is brought about when the body is subjected to a sudden trauma, shock, or a cardiac arrest. It is impossible to be conscious and make memories in this state. Yet, this is the state in which more and more people are reporting having the most profound experiences of their lives. The survivors report these experiences with surprising clarity and consistency and the number of such accounts has only been increasing. These experiences have opened a door into another realm of existence beyond this material world that is becoming increasingly hard to ignore.

People who go through near-death experience have an out-of-body experience where they report seeing the doctors and nurses trying to resuscitate them.

A near-death experience is a profound and life-altering event in which the person is aware that he or she has died and experiences an overwhelming sense of peace. Most of the people who go through this have an out-of-body experience where they report seeing the doctors and nurses trying to resuscitate them. They report being in a state of enhanced consciousness and pulled up through a dark tunnel. Many of them report meeting deceased loved ones or spiritual beings on this journey. They describe entering a world filled with wondrous beauty radiating love and peace where time and space lose all meaning. Some of them report getting meeting god or a god-like person who answers their questions about life and its purpose. Finally, they are told to return to life on earth to complete their work on which they feel intense sadness to be leaving that realm of freedom and bliss.

About half of the people who go through NDEs accurately recount the exact medical procedures that were carried out on their bodies during the revival process from a position outside of their physical bodies.

How authentic are these reports of NDEs? The sheer number of cases of NDEs that are being reported from across the world and the number of published research by reputed universities make it very hard to ignore the phenomenon. Reports of Near-Death Experiences from around the world tend to be similar irrespective of age, gender, and cultural background. A majority of the people who undergo a NDE also experience a paradigm shift in their attitude towards life and existence itself. Most people become more accepting of life, more detached from the material world and are certain that there is more to existence than this life and the material world. One of the most striking features of an NDE is that most people overcome their fear of death. The strongest corroboration of the research data on NDEs comes from doctors and nurses when they confirm what survivors of NDE saw in the operating theatre at the time of clinical death. About half of them accurately recount the exact medical procedures that were carried out on their bodies during the revival process from a position outside of their physical bodies. Growing research shows that much of all the data on NDEs have a basis in fields of science such as quantum physics. All this calls for more genuine investigation into the phenomenon with no biases for or against it.

Some of the reputed academic institutions that are associated with studies and research in the field of NDEs are University of Connecticut(US), Southampton University(UK), University of North Texas(US) and the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia(US). In addition to these there are many organizations that are involved in the research and documentation of NDEs.
